Global Youth Scholars: A Forgotten Child Needs Your Help       03/29/2010

Contribute to a marginalized child’s scholarship fund. Have the opportunity to have naming rights to the scholarship.
Change a child’s life forever.

Global Youth Concept (GYC) is a non-profit student organization whose mission is to improve the socio-economic conditions of disadvantaged youth in the Philippines and the wider South-East Asia region by providing educational resources, fostering youth leadership, and supporting economic development within these local communities. Global Youth Scholars is a program offered through our organization that will provide ten applicants with a full scholarship to San Vicente High School in Pampanga, Philippines. We are currently seeking group sponsors for these scholarships, which will start from the 2010 school year (beginning in June).

GYC scholars are poor and marginalized children in the province of Pampanga, Philippines who plan on continuing their education after elementary school but cannot afford the tuition or other expenses related to attending San Vicente High School. In January 2009, GYC awarded 10 all-inclusive high school scholarships under the Global Youth Scholars program. These scholarships promote education and self-empowerment in hopes of producing better-informed children for a brighter future through the provision of full-tuition fees, English tutors, and college-entrance exam assistance.

Can you help as a Cornell-based fraternity or sorority? The answer is a resounding YES! Greek chapters may sponsor one of these 10 scholarships by donating the funds necessary for a scholar’s overall cost of education - including tuition, food, housing, supplies, transportation and other allowances. Our chapter in the Philippines has estimated the annual cost to be $100 per scholarship. To ensure that each scholar can complete at least four more years of education following elementary school, a minimum donation of $400 is required to ensure sustainability. As a Global Youth Scholars Sponsor, your fraternity or sorority has naming rights to the Scholarship giving you community recognition both on campus as well as in the Philippines. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or have any questions regarding the program, email us at ngogyc@gmail.com.

You can also visit us at www.globalyouthconcept.org for more information.

Help us allow underprivileged children to pursue their hope of getting an education. Your contributions will make a real difference and help us expand our educational support, community outreach, and health initiatives for underprivileged children in the Philippines. As little as $400 will support a child’s tuition for 4 years. You can help educate a child today who would otherwise be left behind by giving to Global Youth Concept’s scholarship program.

Sincerely,

Global Youth Concept
